Original text of Saint-Louis:
Paying tribute to the Milanese painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo,
this paperweight takes its eponymous name from the 1573 painting.
The Spring represents a portrait composed of a profusion of
miniature flowers: more than a hundred flowers are meticulously
sculpted with a blowtorch and then assembled. Resembling a
painting, the background of the paperweight is draped with a layer of
black crystal and surrounded by a profusion of flowers – an effect
again achieved using a blowtorch.
